Float anchor
What are you fellas doing about float anchors? When the kelp are around, I can tie it right to the kelp, but during early part of the season, I have a hard time finding adequate places to anchor down. I use a what feels to be about 1/2 lb lead weight as an anchor.

I use a small anchor I picked up at the dive store, it is like a 4 prung boat anchor. Some of my buddies do like you do and tie a 4 or 5lb weight to the end.
