Ab diving 11-15-08 & 11-16-08 on the Sonoma coast.

Well met up with a buddy of mine Dan on saturday to go grab a couple of ab's. We met up at 12 pm in monte rio and headed out, this trip was to be a beach dive at a secrete on honey that required some serious hiking. Once we got out to jenner we could see we had modorate water and great weather. We then headed up to the spot we discussed but upon arrival we could see that the swell was still a little to big to get where we wanted to since it was all open water diving, so we decided to head on up to go old Horse Shoe cove. We got suited up and since we had nice calm condition we kicked out about 200 yards and workerd the outer reef but the vis at best was only 2 to 3 feet even out in 30 feet of water. After about 2hrs of hunting and looking around the best dan and I could manage was 2- big fat * & 3/4 each. So back to shore to tag and change and head home. On the way home we decided since you could tell the water was going to be even better on sunday we decided to hook up and dive but this time we were going off the zodiac. So sunday morning I packed the family up and headed up to Ocean cove for a picnic and dive. Dan showed up about 12. we then preceded to get suited up. Oh I forgot to mention on this dive we would be being joined by my 7 year old soon blake. So we all got ready and launched the boat. did a few minutes and checks with blake real quick in the cove then off we all went. It was truley one of those days you really have to enjoy good friends, family and totally awesome weather and water conditions. The three of us decided to head up to the stewarts point area, I we screamed up there it only took about 20 minutes with my little 25hp motor. Since we had my son I decided to go to a safe well known spot that I felt comfertable with wich was Richardsons cove. We got in and were treated to a wonderful 8 to 10 foot vis. Swam around again hunting for about 2 hrs only managing about the same size abs as the day before the only difference was we both took three this time and dan shoot one real nice ling but got off the tip and got away and shot one nice kelp greenling that made it home. I have to say dan you have some real bottom time, like rob said your a submarine or must have gills behind the ears. Will we all got back in the boat and headed home to a wonderful pink susnset, took about 25 minutes to get back, cleaned up and headed home. I forgot to mention when we pulled into ocean cove early in the day their must have ben at least 20 to 25 boat trailers and boats no where to park your trailer. Well thats the repot hope it was not to boring. The highlight of the weekend was getting my son out on the boat and got him a chance to dive the stewarts point area befor the MLPA close it next year.
