Nunya Cove

are we really going to share our best places to dive with total strangers?
personally, I have a few secret coves i goto that i only share with a few select divers and only after we have dove together a few times.
but, i do have some favorites that i do not mind sharing.
Fisk Mill Cove during high tide
Horseshoe Cove if there is a northern swell
A cove near Ocean Cove. If driving up 1north, the last turnout on your left BEFORE you get to the Ocean Cove gas station. Park there and walk straight out.. anywhere around there has nice diving.
Van Damme SP but only if you have a kayak, canoe, boat or something else other than just swimming... the cove is extremely shallow for quite awhile and you need to get past all that to dive, so not really beach entry friendly.
If with girls, goto Stillwater Cove, south of Salt Point. there are bathrooms and a nice little sandy beach for them to relax on... park at the top, highway turn out and either walk on the highway down to the entry, or find the little trail at the top of the turnout with a rope to scale down to the little creek on the left of the bathroom.
and of course, when it seems un-dive-able, make sure to check out Fort Ross Cove before calling it quits!

Dive Spots
Great job, I know it was hard to talk about that. Just to add a little. There's a great rock formation just to the right of Stillwater, about a 100 yard + to the border of the cove. You cant miss the rocks because their by themselves. It's hard to paddle out to, actually don't bother trying. If you have a kayak or boat then I recommend it. I only had one chance to dive there because of the swells, but once down (10 to 15 feet at a negative tide) I had to choose my abalone. For some reason its usually ruff, but if you find the right day (tide) it's an awesome dive. Enjoy. If anyones looking for a practice spot for new abalone divers let me know. I have a safe, pool size, tide pool that I know about that is about 10 to 20 feet deep. Great for new and beginners who want to get the feel of the ocean without the swell and outside influences.
Need a safe spot for the beginner
Jeff,
I've tried rock picking and 15ft diving at Jenner(the reef) last week, but I couldn't get one. I can go up as far as Sonoma & Mendochino county. You're more than welcome to PM me your secret spots for the BEGINNER
Thanks in advanced.
Mike
