All Abalone Are Deaf

This is one of my favorite Abalone books written by a truly remarkable person. Felix Macias, Jr currently works for Salt Point SP and is deaf, hence part of the reason by the book's name. His book is very informative and very easy to read. I had a chance to meet him in April when he came over to check out the size of our abs and I recognized his name right off the bat. Once you get to the way he talks, the information and stories he tells are so interesting i didnt want him to leave... his book is the same way.

Other than over 50 pages of recipes broken up into regions and methods of cooking, he also has names and mile markers for many coves to dive.. instructions on how to shuck and clean an ab as well as other stories about abalone diving; from the story behind John Pepper who caught the largest ab (12 5/16"x9 3/4"!) to why its important to conserve abalone... this book has it all.
