Met up with my dive buddy Randy Jones at Ocean Cove at 7am on sunday moring to go do some trophy hunting. We arrived to prestine water conditions the only down side was a little fog. So with great anticipation we got suited up and launched. We decdided since the water was so flat and calm that we would try to hit some of the open faces and points that usually are rough. We ended up at a place we decided to call eel Rock because it looked like a face of a wolf eel. Which was on the southern end of Arch richardson ranch, which it only took us about 30 minutes to get there. Well anyway on with the dive. We anchored the boat about a 100 yards off shore in about 80 feet, due to the way the bottom was. It went from 80 feet up to 40 feet and then to 15 feet. so to be safe we anchored way out and kicked in, which ended up being over kill but better to be safe than sorry right ? Well once we got into about 20 feet we started hunting, oh ya did I forget to mention we must of had atleast 20 feet vis and that is being consertive, it probably would have ben better if the sun was out and not foggy. Randy and I both knew at that point some one was coming home with a ten. We dove for about an hour finding nines all over the place, You could see them from the surface out in the open. we had ben diving for about an hour and a half when I found it, It being the Ten ! I yelled to randy I got one ! with this being my first I was on cloud nine. We continued diving for another 2 to 2 1/2 hrs. befor we got out not by choice but necessity to being to damm cold.I ended up with one ten and 2- nice fat nine inchers and a 4 inch scallop, Randy ended up with a 9 & 15/16 and a 9 & 1/2 and he also got a 3 inch scallop. Then on back to Ocean cove we went. What a fun fast ride back. Once back made an official measurment of the ten and it was excatly that a ten. In all it was one hell of a day ! Know I am looking for that really, really elusive 11 incher. Hope this was not to boring but I had to share.

Congratulations!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS Matt, it must be an incredible feeling to finally pull that elusive 10 incher after so many years of trying. You must have been on cloud 9 when you brought it to the surface. Hope to see some photos of it soon and do consider putting it on that trophy website too since it really is a badge of honor. Now you've gotten that out of the way, its time for that 11 incher or maybe a limit of 10's while the weather's still good.
