Hiya everyone

Hello all. New to these forums. New to diving. Total greenhorn. My 1st experience with free diving was in 2000 my buddies talked me into getting dive gear and trying my luck at ab diving. Didnt fare too well 1st couple of times out. Then I got into a motorcycle accident which almost tore my right leg off. After 7 years and about 13 surgeries, I am ready to try my luck again. I dont walk so well so either I need to get decent access or use my buddies boat. Can anyone give me some advice as to where to launch ? I'm not asking for anyones honeyhole but just a decent boat launch to get started. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Also you can launch at Timber

Also you can launch at Timber Cove.

Ocean Cove

I agree with Matt. The great thing about Ocean Cove is that its basically for divers and fisherman.. people of the ocean.. if you camp there, its cause you like to eat something that comes out of the ocean. I enjoy parking near the fish gutting station and just BSing with the locals as they clean and gut their fish.. you hear a lot of "stories" so ya gotta sift through it to get to the nuggets, but just hanging out is fun too.

as for the boat launch.. its a great boat launch spot, but be prepared to back your truck up a really windy and steep road.. lol

the fishing is great here and you will often see people bringing in huge lings and cabezons.

A great place to launch and camp.

There is a great priviate campground called Ocean Cove, They have a great boat launch a fish cleaning station, showers and a little general store that carrys a little of every thing even dive gear. The prices are not bad either with day use and boat launch being only 15 dollars and 19 for camping and 7 for day use. I highly recomend and is only a short boat ride to the honey holes. Hope this helps, I have also listed it on the dive site map as well here on abalone diving.com.
