Cleaning Pearls???

I've bee collecting pearls for years now and was wonder what’s the best way to remove blemishes and clean or polish them up?

Cleaning... or really polishing....

Joe have you met Wes? (The Man with the Yellow Blazer) He buys pearls in Petaluma in case your interested in selling them. There is a way of polishing them but if it is not done correctly it can crack the pearl or ruin the pearl in general. The dust from polishing can also be toxic, so it's best to be done outside. If you would like to really experiment I'd recommend trying to polish the inside of a few shells first to get the idea of what your doing. Pearls can be rare enough as it is and it would be a shame to destroy a few potentially nice pearls just to learn.

Ps. If anyone has pearls to sell please let me know...
